Faith Formation Parent Meeting Summary

Faith Formation Parent Meeting Summary

In case you were not able to attend the Faith Formation Parent Meeting on Wed, Sept. 2, here is a summary of the information presented.
1) New Class Schedule:
Schedules can be picked up in the Faith Formation office.  They will also be available on the church website soon.
Grades K, 1, 7 & 8 will meet Sunday 9:15 – 10:45 am, every other week according to the schedule.
Grades 3, 4, 5, & 6 will meet Sunday 9:15 – 10:45 am every other week according to the schedule.
This station format was used during Vacation Bible School this summer and worked beautifully! Catechists/helpers really enjoyed the 20 minute sessions and the children were engaged in the experience for the entire time.  It allowed great opportunity for fun, creativity and learning for both catechists/helpers and students. For Faith Formation, a specific curriculum will be followed and all lessons will be prepared by me for the catechists/helpers.
The morning will begin with Group Prayer for everyone in the social hall. Students will then move in groups through 4 stations, each 20 minutes long.
The stations are: BIBLE STORIES, SAINTS & SACRAMENTS, MORALITY & CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING & SERVICE, and LITURGY & ART & MUSIC.
All drop off, sign in and pick up will be in the social hall.
Grades 9 & 10 Confirmation classes will meet Sundays 12 – 1:30 pm according to the schedule.
The class format is unchanged from last year.
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be Tuesday, March 15 at 7:00 pm at Church of the Holy Family. Students from Most Holy Rosary will join us for the Sacrament as well.
Grade 2 Sacraments classes will meet on Monday evenings 6:00 – 7:30 pm according to the schedule (same as last year).
The class format is unchanged from last year.
Noah’s Ark (formerly known as Wee Worship) will be for 3 and 4 year olds and will meet at 11:00 am twice a month according to the schedule.
Noah’s Ark children should be dropped off and SIGNED IN in the social hall before 11:00 mass, and picked up in the social hall after mass.
NOTE: In January, our mass schedule is going to become: Saturday 4:00 pm, Sunday 8:00 am and 11:00 am. This will not affect Faith Formation class times.
2) VIRTUS Certification:
If a catechist/helper needs a VIRTUS recertification, I will hold the 1 1/2 hour session.
If a catechist/helper needs a VIRTUS certification, please let me know as soon as possible and I may schedule the 3 hour session.
3) 9th and 10th Grade Service:

The Service criteria is the same as in past years. Each student is asked to complete 5 service projects consisting of 4 within our church and 1 in the larger community. EACH YEAR. We are exited about service and all of the options there are from which to choose! The students have a large role in deciding what they would like to do to help in our church and local communities.
9th & 10th graders were emailed Service Reflection forms. If you did not receive this email, please contact Mary Strojny (chfyouth@gmail.com). Please note that all forms are also available on the church website. Parents, the Service Reflections should be filled out by your STUDENT as they are asked to share their reflections on and reactions to the service activity.
4) Pancake Breakfast and Catechetical Mass:
All families and catechists/helpers are requested to attend the Catechetical mass on September 20 at 8:30 am. It will be followed by our annual Pancake Breakfast.
