McDevitt HOPE Grants 2011

McDevitt HOPE Grants 2011

Church of the Holy Family was  recently awarded a Diocesan McDevitt Grant for Youth and Family Life Activities.  This grant of $7,500 will be used for the establishment of a Catholic Athletes for Christ Chapter at Church of the Holy Family.

Catholic Athletes for Christ (C.A.C.) is an Alexandria, Virginia based organization that serves Catholic athletes in the practice of their faith and shares the Gospel in and through sports.  C.A.C. works with athletes of all levels in an effort to promote a Catholic sports culture and was formed in response to Pope John Paul II’s creation of the Vatican Office of Sports.  More detail will follow on this new ministry in the future.

The McDevitt Grants are made possible through the estate of Bob and Kay McDevitt, both of whom were devout Catholics, lifelong supporters and friends of the Diocese of Syracuse.  We are forever grateful for their example of Christian charity.

Also, special thanks to all of the 2010 Diocese of Syracuse HOPE Appeal contributors.  One of the criteria for applying for this grant was that we exceed our 2010 HOPE Appeal goal. which we accomplished thanks to your generosity.
