The Newman Singers, a group of talented students from the Newman Center at the University of Iowa, sang liturgical music at all masses the weekend of July 30th and 31st at Church of the Holy Family. After the Saturday evening mass, parish youth hosted the group for a cookout and outdoor games including volleyball, ultimate frisbee and other games.
The Newman Singers consist of Catholic youth over the age of 18. This year’s group included two members who were here at Church of the Holy Family in 2010 also. The group, under the direction of Joe Mattingly, has been touring the country for 15 years.
After providing music for three Masses at Holy Family, the Newman Singers put on a concert in the church on Sunday afternoon.
