Safe Environment Volunteer Suspension Policy

Safe Environment Volunteer Suspension Policy

Effective January 1, 2022, any volunteer whose credentials expired prior to December 31, 2021, who has not completed the Safe Environment recertification requirement will be suspended indefinitely until the completion of the Safe Environment re-credentialing process. Suspended volunteers are prohibited from volunteering in any program or ministry that places them in regular contact with children, youth, and/or vulnerable adults under the auspices of the diocese, its schools, parishes, or ministries.

The diocesan Child and Youth Protection Policy requires Safe Environment recertification training for all clergy, members of religious orders, parish and diocesan employees, and all volunteers whose ministry or role continues to place them in regular contact with children, youth, or vulnerable adults every five (5) years, before the expiration of their current credentials.
